At JCMC, morning huddles tend to run long, though they are still shorter compared to those at LICH. LICH remains the most challenging environment I have worked in.
Key Observations At JCMC:
- JCMC incorporates a “Safety Story” segment during huddles, which contributes to extended meeting times.
- The culture at JCMC is highly rigid, with strong emphasis on strict adherence to established processes.
- Many clinicians there are very young and inexperienced yet excel at following orders precisely.
- While patient safety is always the priority, the approach leaves little room for alternative methods, even when multiple safe options exist.
- Deviating from customary practices often results in being reported, and family complaints are treated as formal reports, which differs from constructive feedback.
Do with the information as you please.
I remained your favorite clinician.
